RELEASE DATE: Spring Equinox, 2017. A serial to be published in e-format on Amazon, Kobo, and your other favourite e-book sites. Check out my blog http://dianemorrison.wordpress.com for more information, publication schedule, special features, and more! Picture if you will a world not unlike our own, after an unknown Apocalypse. Relics of the old world remain, but steam and steel have replaced computers and internal combustion. Magic has returned to the world. In the aftermath, a new society of city-states has arisen. Two Orders hold them together: the Courtesans, companions to the wealthy and powerful, assassins and spies; and the Gunslingers, holy warriors sworn to protect the innocent, killing so that others won't have to. They believe they are the reincarnations of the Gunslingers of old, reborn again and again to serve their penance, taking the weight of sin on their own souls so that others are free to Transcend. The series follows the adventures of young elven Gunslingers Graeme and Piper Walsh and Gunslinger Chik-cha the Mantis; Courtesan Emma Winters; Gladiator and former slave Joshua Anders; Gnomish Engineer Wesson Smith; gnelf Mage Dani St. Vincent; and sleazy Alchemist and snake-oil salesman Pete Woodhouse. These youths have a great destiny before them. All the signs suggest that Graeme is the reincarnation of Graeme Paramander, founder of the Gunslinger Order, and his companions are part of that shared fate. A Gunslinger's road is paved with bullets and blood; but that's how the New West will be won. I have used a variety of movie clips to emulate the proper post-apocalyptic steampunk western feel; 2012, The Andromeda Strain, Dungeons & Dragons, The Good the Bad & the Ugly, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Man with No Name, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Pale Rider, Roy Rodgers, Sleepy Hollow, The Terminator 2, The Three Musketeers (2011), Tombstone, Van Helsing, Wild Wild West, Young Guns, and Young Guns II. I have used video game footage from Call of Juarez and Red Dead Redemption, and live footage from the California Steampunk Convention 2008, Feshhockachule Kaiserslauters, and the fancy quick draw and gunslinging talents of Calgarian Howard Darby. Music: "Pilgrimage to the Tower" by Crowfreak77, "God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Johnny Cash, and "A Stranger in Tull" by J.R. Flynn, from the score for "The Gunslinger," a movie based on the first novel in The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Graphics and photography are from random Google searches.
