Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The eighth path, "the Great Rite" is a ritual act of sexual intercourse between two people, usually the High Priestess & High Priest of the coven, representing the Goddess & God. The Great Rite can be enacting symbolically (usually with a chalice and athame) as well as "in Actual." This video covers the history and origins of the Great Rite, the Hieros Gamos "sacred marriage" archetype, Drawing Down the Moon & Sun (aspecting the Goddess or God through oneself, a form of trance channelling,) the "left hand path" of Tantra, the Gnostic Mass, Western sex magick, and sacred prostitution as a holy path of the Goddess. For more information, check out the "Workshops & Classes" page.

Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The seventh path, "the Scourge" refers specifically to a flogger used in British Traditional Witchcraft. When contrasted with "the Kiss," it is a symbol of the pain and suffering of life. Scourging has been used in many different religious traditions to achieve enlightenment, as have symbolic death and rebirth rituals, which may come from ancient shamanic initiations and Mystery traditions. This video briefly covers as many of these dark mysteries as possible, including initiation, pain, confronting the Shadow Self, the Monomyth, Croning, near death experiences, and death itself.   For more information, see the "Workshops & Classes" page.

Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The sixth path, "Blood Control (the Cords,) Breath Control, and kindred practices" utilizes the control of breathing, heart rate, and circulation for two purposes. The first is to change consciousness and induce a trance, which is essential to most magickal work. The second is to direct the vital energy of the body, variously known as Prana, Chi, Ki, etc., to empower magick. There are many different ways of accomplishing this, both through internal focus and external assistance. See the "Workshops & Classes" page for more information.

Music Credits: "Tantra 1" by Leora Lightwoman (sometimes credited to its producer, Llewellyn,) "Fairy Dances" by Elven. The use of these songs is not intended to challenge copyright. I encourage you to check out the music of some of my favourite musical artists!

Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The fifth path, "The Dance, and kindred practices" is about using movement of the body to create sacred art and shift consciousness. This covers everything from tribal and shamanic dancing, to ecstatic dance and possession trances, to folk dancing and circle dancing, to performance art and ritual, to a personal celebration of the Gods and Goddesses within, and it even includes other practices of sacred movement, such as yoga and Tai Chi. Only the most basic of these practices could be covered in this short video, with a special focus on Dance as utilized by Wiccans and Pagans. http://sablearadia.webs.com

The fourth path, "Incense, Drugs, Wine, etc.," which could collectively be called "Intoxicants," involves the use of any external substance to change consciousness. This includes everything from aromatherapy, to inhaled scents such as incense and smudging, to the use of herbs, drugs, alcohol, hallucinogens, and poisons and toxins. This video explains briefly how these substances have been utilized in magick and ritual, and offers cautions and suggestions for their safe useage. http://sablearadia.webs.com

Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The third path, "Rites, Chants, Spells, Runes & Charms," collectively known as "the Craft" or "the Art Magickal," is the form of magick that is most commonly associated with Witchcraft. Practicing "the Craft' involves using a complex language of symbolism to create a performance or process art that utilizes all the senses. In this way, a Witch or Magician's Will is communicated to the subconscious, and subsequently, the Universe. http://sablearadia.webs.com

Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The second path, Trance, refers to any altered state of consciousness, and learning how to enter a Trance is an essential skill in most acts of magick. Fortunately, we do this all the time; the key is to learn how to do so voluntarily! This video explains a little about levels of Trance and their corrosponding brain waves, and different methods of inducing a Trance. http://sablearadia.webs.com

Gerald Gardner's Book of Shadows delineates eight different methods of creating magick. The first, "Concentration or Meditation; called for short 'Intent,'" is the wellspring of all magick. Learning how to focus Intent is the most essential skill for the Witch or Magician, but it can be learned and practiced by anyone. http://sablearadia.webs.com
